# majorana\_operator

`majorana_operator(operator)`

Converts an operator into a [`MajoranaOperator`](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/operators-majorana-operator "qiskit_fermions.operators.MajoranaOperator").

This is a thin, type-agnostic wrapper around the [`SupportsMajoranaOperator`](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/protocols-supports-majorana-operator "qiskit_fermions.protocols.SupportsMajoranaOperator") protocol method, mirroring the free-function style of [`fermion_operator()`](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/mappers-library-fermion-operator "qiskit_fermions.mappers.library.fermion_operator").

**Parameters**

**operator** ([*SupportsMajoranaOperator*](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/protocols-supports-majorana-operator "qiskit_fermions.protocols.majorana_operator.SupportsMajoranaOperator")) – the operator to convert, implementing [`SupportsMajoranaOperator`](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/protocols-supports-majorana-operator "qiskit_fermions.protocols.SupportsMajoranaOperator").

**Returns**

The operator converted into a [`MajoranaOperator`](/docs/api/qiskit-fermions/operators-majorana-operator "qiskit_fermions.operators.MajoranaOperator").
